My Praise
2 min read
49 Lord, where is your former great love, which in your faithfulness you swore to David?
50 Remember, Lord, how your servant has been mocked, how I bear in my heart the taunts of all the nations,
51 the taunts with which your enemies, LORD, have mocked, with which they have mocked every step of your anointed one.
52 Praise be to the LORD forever! Amen and Amen.
— Psalm 89:49-52
There are seasons in our lives when the gracious hand of God seems so far away. In fact, it may seem that God is causing calamity in our lives as retribution for our sins.
That may be the case. Or it may be the case that we simply suffer the natural consequences of our sins or the sins of others.
Whatever the case, the devil is prowling around us and tempting us to turn our backs on Christ, to turn our backs on His church, to join with the rest of the world in denying the cross of Christ rather than picking up the cross of Christ.
When we find ourselves in those season, we need to hold fast to our identity and do the very thing that God has called us to do: Praise the LORD forever!
Father, Your are good. Your lovingkindness, faithfulness, and mercy endure forever. Your greatness abounds even in the midst of great trials. Praise be to You, LORD. In Jesus’s name. Amen.
