Vision

Being Disciples | Making Disciples

MATTHEW 28:19-20

Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.

WHAT DOES THIS INVOLVE?

We want to focus on three GCCs:
To become: a Gospel Centered Church, a Greatest Commandment Church, and a Great Commission Church.

GOSPEL CENTERED CHURCH

The apostle Paul wrote that the gospel is “the power of God that brings salvation for everyone who believes” (Romans 1:16). Without the gospel, there can be no power of God and no salvation. The gospel is the heartbeat of our lives, and so the gospel is also the heartbeat of our church.

GREATEST COMMANDMENT CHURCH

Loving God and loving your neighbor as yourself (Mark 12:29-31) reflects the character that God desires for our lives, because God is love (1 John 4:16). Which is harder – loving God, whom we cannot see, or loving people, who are as imperfect as we are? With the power of God’s grace, we learn to love one another and in that way express our love to God and reflect His love for us.

GREAT COMMISSION CHURCH

Jesus calls all of His followers to make disciples of all nations (Matthew 28:19-20). This begins where we live, and then it extends out to those places where we have partners in the spreading of the gospel.

Our mission, which is born of this vision, is to become like Jesus and build up His church and to teach others to do the same.

History of our Church

The story of Good Community Church began in January 1st 1991 when 12 people under the leadership of Pastor Paul Kim gathered for worship in the city of Carson under the name South Bay Korean Baptist Church. It was renamed Good Community Church on October 1999. GCC would meet in several locations until it found it’s current home on Mariner Ave. in the city of Torrance. Since then, the church has seen lives transformed by the gospel of Jesus.
