‘The King will reply, “Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’”‘
— Matthew 25:40

Today’s Text: Matthew 25:31-46 (Living Life Daily Devotional)

I should always assume that whatever I say or do to someone, that Someone is the Lord. At least, that is the perspective that this parable tells us that we should have.

Honestly, it is not natural or easy for us to have that perspective, because we naturally think about how to benefit ourselves and not others. But in serving Jesus, I serve Christ. That is the principle.

And serving others should be as natural and delightful for us as it to serve ourselves. That is what it means to serve Christ.

I have a long way to go. But by God’s grace, His word continually reminds me of those things, and I trust that through prayer, the Lord is making me into the kind of person who pleases Him.

Father, All things are in Your hands. And so You always think of us—what is best for us. And so You gave us Your word to lead us there. Change my heart, oh, God, so that my joy may be to serve You and Your church. In Jesus’s name. Amen.
