For he remembered his holy promise given to his servant Abraham.

He brought out his people with rejoicing, his chosen ones with shouts of joy;

He gave them the lands of the nations, and they fell heir to what others had toiled for—that they might keep his precepts and observe his laws.

Praise the LORD.
— Psalm 105:42-45

Today’s Text: Psalm 105:23-45 (Living Life Daily Devotional)

God’s covenant faithfulness has been demonstrated in the history of Israel. God’s covenant faithfulness has been demonstrated through His Son, Jesus Christ. And God’s covenant faithfulness continues to be demonstrated through His church.

And even now, God demonstrates His covenant faithfulness through the church so that we might keep His precepts and observe His laws.

Of course, we are not talking about the letter of the law.

He has made us competent as ministers of a new covenant—not of the letter but of the Spirit; for the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life.
2 Corinthians 3:6

God’s covenant faithfulness demands our covenant faithfulness. God demands our covenant faithfulness, not in order to be saved, but because we are saved already through faith by the grace of God (Ephesians 2:8).

And because we are saved through faith, that faith, by its very nature, contains in it the demand for covenant faithfulness. If we are lacking in covenant faithfulness, it is because there is something deficient about our faith.

And so we make every effort to live according to the Spirit.

Therefore, brothers and sisters, we have an obligation—but it is not to the flesh, to live according to it. For if you live according to the flesh, you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the misdeeds of the body, you will live. For those who are led by the Spirit of God are the children of God.
Romans 8:12-14

And as we live according to the Spirit, He will lead us to walk in faithfulness to the word of God. Praise the Lord.

Father, You have made a way so that I may be saved. And You have made no other alternative for how we might be saved. I confess that my faithfulness is often lacking. Forgive me, Lord. Holy Spirit, lead me strongly so that I may live according to the Spirit. And may my faithfulness be pleasing in Your sight. In Jesus’s name. Amen.
