Hesed
“Know that the LORD is God. It is he who made us, and we are his; we are his people, the sheep of his pasture.
Enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise; give thanks to him and praise his name.
For the LORD is good and his love endures forever; his faithfulness continues through all generations.”
My walk of faith must begin with knowing that “the LORD is God,” knowing that “It is He who made us, and we are His.” If I do not “know” this, I am walking blind.
But knowing that I belong to God, what response can I give but to worship Him—to enter HIS gates and HIS courts with praise. Is my life so miserable that I have nothing to be thankful for? Would I rather be dead than alive? Would I rather never have been born? Those questions are only for my teenage self. At some point, I can only accept that I am alive and make the best of my living. And as I do, I realize there is such great beauty in the living. Praise God!
Once I came to grips with the “fact” that I am alive, and came to see the beauty of life, the goodness of God and His faithfulness became so clear—like the air I breathe.
Father, You are God, and I am Yours. Your lovingkindness, faithfulness, and mercy endure forever in me. Thank You for being mindful of me, a sinner, and saving me. In Jesus’s name. Amen.
