Perfect Citizens-NOT
God’s kingdom operates according to the rules of His kingdom. Repentance is simply agreeing to live according to the rules of God’s kingdom. Why would God allow anyone into His kingdom (where salvation is found) who refuses to live according to the rules of His kingdom? Of course, living in God’s kingdom does not mean that we are all perfect little citizens, either.
Gospel Feet
It is the feet of Christ—broken and bloodied by a nail on a cross at Calvary—it is His beautiful feet that come down from the heavenly Mount Zion to bring good news, the gospel, to proclaim and deliver God’s peace forever more.
My Rights
Simply to receive our salvation and not collect on our “reward” is to miss out on the fullness of life that Christ promises us—and along with it, trials of many kinds. It’s almost as if the trials of many kinds that we encounter when we take up our own cross is the vehicle or the platform through which we receive the fullness of life that life as a follower of Jesus Christ promises to us.
Belonging
Although the lesson about sexual immorality is directly relevant, obviously, we must not stumble into superficial moralism and lose sight of the main spiritual point: Christ owns every part of us. But that spiritual point does not condemn us, either, because of our sin. It is because Christ owns every part of us through faith (fact) that we are saved.
Remember Me
Salvation is not just for me. It is for the world. And God by HIS grace has remembered me and allowed me to enjoy the shalom of HIS chosen ones and share in the joy of HIS nation and join HIS inheritance in giving praise.
Self Control
Because self-reliance and self-actualization help us to function well in the material realm, we place our trust in the self in the spiritual realm, as well. But we shouldn’t. They don’t work.
